Catching up
I know, it's been awhile. A lot has happened since the last time I wrote, so I guess I need to catch up a little. We had a great Christmas. Logan wasn't able to come out this year because she had a doctors appointment for her scoliosis. She already wears a brace and will be in it until a year after she hits puberty. She is 10 and has been wearing it now for over a year. We thought she would have to get a new brace this last doctors visit, but she still fits in this one so they will check again in the spring. She is doing well in school, nothing unusual there.
Jeff's youngest daughter Nikole came out for Christmas. It was the first time we had met her and had a lot of fun with her. She is 16. She is very smart and pretty and down to earth. The girl has so much potential! She is talking about coming out for the summer and we hope she does!
On somewhat of the same note, Jeff's mother is now living with us. She moved out here from the Boston area. It has been somewhat of a challenge, but we are working through it. I think Jeff enjoys having his mother around again, even on the days when she really tries our patience. It's great for Zack too, he has never known her. The last time she saw Zack he wasn't even a year old so Zack doesn't remember her at all. She has the kids call her "Nonie" so she's not confused as to which grandma they are talking about. Zack somehow picked up calling her Aunt Nonie. Don't know where that came from but it's cute and she doesn't mind.
Speaking of Zack he finally lost his 2 front teeth. He lost one New Year's Eve and the other this last Friday night. He is quickly becoming the toothless wonder! He has another loose tooth on the top so of course he is wiggling it like crazy so the tooth fairy will visit him again. Jeff likes to tell him that he can't lose a tooth on the weekends or holidays because the tooth fairy takes those days off. He is terrible! Poor Zack believed him at first, so I had to assure him the tooth fairy would come and visit him any night he lost a tooth.
Taylor is doing very well in school. For those of you that don't know, Taylor is in special ed. She has been since 3rd grade. Every three years they re-evaluate to see if she is still eligible. We had that meeting earlier this week. She is still eligible, which I knew she was but she is doing so well in math that they are going to move her into general ed for that. They also want her to be in inclusion classes for all subjects by the end of the year. Inclusion classes are kind of a mix between general ed and special ed. They are in a regular class room but in small groups so they get the extra help they need. Right now she is in a self contained room and her teacher thinks that is holding her back. She also has a mild hearing loss so they've made accomodations for her to make sure she is close to the teacher so she can hear what the teacher is saying and they also make sure she has visual cues so she knows what's going on. As soon as I get insurance we are going back to the E.N.T. to see if she needs tubes in her ears again. The audiologist at school thinks she still has fluid buildup behind her eardrums so we'll have to do something about that. I am so proud of her, she is a great kid and is trying so hard to get where she needs to be in school.
It's snowing here again!!! A couple of weeks ago we got a foot of snow, set all kinds of records for snowfall here. It was fun for a little while, but I got tired of it. Yesterday we got about 3 inches of snow and now it's snowing again. It's been cold and miserable and I'm ready for spring now.
I chopped my hair off yesterday. I really like it but I have to get used to styling it again. I had it highlighted as well but Jeff wants it lighter so I'm going back later this week to have her redo it.
Jeff now has his General's license for his Ham radio. He is loving it and now wants a radio with a higher frequency I think. It's all mumbo jumbo to me. I just nod my head and act like I know what he's talking about.
